Octagon Drum
Traditional Native American shamanic drums were often hexagonal or octagonal shape.

The hexagon and octagonal shapes are important in sacred geometry and those shapes are important to Native Americans.

The shapes are reflected in the shape of the traditional Tipi and Hogan, both Native American dwellings. These dwellings had entrances that faced east, suggesting that the octagon and hexagon were related to the heavens.

Cedar Wood
The Cedar tree is a powerful healing tree, and the flutes and drums constructed from the Cedar carry a superior resonance and healing energy. The Natives of the Northwest smudged with Cedar, used Cedar tea for healing and carved their totems and canoes from this sacred wood. Many songs were written about the healing energies of Cedar, and when a tree was taken, all parts of it were used for the healing and survival of the People.

Meanings of the Hides Used in our Drums

ELK HIDE: is used on this Medicine Durm.
For a Spirtitual Journey
When we are working in the West on the Medicine Wheel – the Water, emotions, shadow self – then Elk Medicine gives us the stamina and endurance to get through the edges, from the known to the unknown. As we go through our fears, we expand ourselves and add more trust to our circle. Trust is the lubricant that helps us take the “leap of faith” that leads us to unity with spirit and to a reclaiming of our original grace.
Elk is powerful medicine for healing child abuse and addictive patterns. The Elk will bring up our unresolved grief and help purify and cleanse us through crying and grieving our sweet tears. The vibration of Elk opens the third Chakra, the belly, where we carry our fears and undigested values that interfere with our pure will. The Elk is a communal animal, hanging out with members of the same sex except during mating season.

AMERICAN BISON/BUFFALO HIDE: is also used on this Medicine Drum.
This 15" Buffalo Drum it has that something special that seems to give these drums for their size a Deeper lower resonance with a Superb Sound.

Historically Drums have been used in many different traditional ways in ceremony and with prayer.
This one-sided New round hand drum (or "Shaman" drum as they are sometimes called) has been the most popular style among Native Americans for 100s of years. We offer a fine quality handmade drum, made from traditional bent wood frames and the Buffalo rawhide is treated with a forgotten Tradition dying method.

Native American drums are the oldest and most important instrument to the native culture. Not only does the sound of the "Native American Style" rawhide drum move our spirit by the calming vibrations it sets off, but the beat is in tune with the earth's natural frequency. The steady strong sound of hitting the drum is in sync with the rhythm of the heartbeat in the center of this world.

Each rawhide drum is individually handmade.

For all these Native American hand drums we only pick the finest rawhide skins to get the deepest, richest tone.

All of my items are handmade & many of them are truly one of a kind which means that no two are exactly alike.

Because each one of my items are handcrafted one at a time, no two are 100% identical. I consider my items as art forms made in the centuries old ways which means there may be natural variations that one might consider a flaw but are actually inherent in the making of the piece, just as they were centuries ago. My items are created exactly as they were centuries ago. We might look at a piece from centuries ago may it be a drum, war club, knife, pipe, necklace, etc & think it's not perfect but actually it is, it's the hand crafted nature & techniques that the Native Americans used & which I use today with pride, skill & confidence.

One of the main reasons being with the finest Buffalo Rawhide or Elk Rawhide that these drums are so spectacular it was slow dry in a cool place to insure long lasting quality for use in any weather condition. Only the finest rawhide and wooden frame materials are used to insure the best sound and life of your very own individualized handmade drum.
